Our Story
It all started in 2016 just South of Launceston, Tasmania at the Glen Ireh estate in Perth. Two friends, Adam Pinkard and Adam Saunders came together to transform a whisky dream into a working single malt whisky distillery. Driven by their shared dream, ambition and an innovative spirit, the Adams were on a mission to immerse themselves on a journey of whisky discovery.
To their advantage, the Tasmanian craft whisky scene proved to be a fountain of knowledge, with practitioners willing to share insights and experiences with fellow distillers and the whisky curious alike. The Adams were further enthused and encouraged to pursue their dream of building a significant craft whisky business at the Glen Ireh estate. Professor Bernie joined the team and the spirit range was expanded to include a dry gin and navy strength turbo gin.
Disaster struck in February 2021, when a fire destroyed the distillery, leaving ashes and crushed dreams. Fortunately, the maturing whisky stocks were not affected by the disaster and the team, strengthened by the addition of new investors, resolved to build anew with impetus added to this resolve by Adams Peated Port Slosh cask being recognized as category winner and the best Australian single cask malt at the 2021 World Whiskies Awards. Further awards have been added to these accolades, including medals at the World Whiskies Awards, World Gin Awards and inclusion in the notable Jim Murray Whisky Bible.
Adams Distillery has risen from the ashes and enters a new era with renewed vigor and a vision that includes an expanded offering of premium craft whisky, gin and other spirits available throughout Australia and selected markets worldwide.
